In summary: don't walk; run away from this firm. They not only tried to convince me that their improperly prepared returns were "correct" (they were not and I have the signed opinions from 2 CPA's from another firm listing 9 errors that would have had me pay a lot more in taxes), but they reported my account (for work that wasn't done right and I had to hire another firm to properly do) to collections that I am now disputing with the collection agency as this firm and RIck Salter refuse to even solve. I hired Rick Salter and FTB Tax to do tax preparation work. They billed up front before providing services. When Rick sent an unprofessional email essentially stating that I should pay him more money because I had had decent income in the year of tax preparation, it was the first warning sign. Then I noticed mistakes of information not properly entered. This lead me to contact another tax preparation firm with 2 licensed CPA's with a solid reputation (of positive reviews). After they reviewed the returns and the same supports I had provided Rick Salter and FTB Tax Services, they found more mistakes (than I had originally noticed). These mistakes were serious ones: in some cases, income was not properly listed (which is a serious issue when filing tax returns) and in others, legal deductions I am entitled to were not placed in the right forms in the right places. The end result would have been potential issues for me and paying much more in taxes than I was legally obligated to pay. I luckily found another firm and had my returns done properly. When I brought the issues to light, Rick Salter became upset, refused to reply to emails and I had to submit the signed opinion letter from the 2 CPA's to my credit card to get a refund (as Rick wanted to charge for incorrect work). Now, I was called by a collection agency and was told that they will be reporting to the credit bureau. This is for work that wasn't even done right. You pay for tax returns that are CORRECT, not just for forms with numbers that are not right. The reason I am investing the time in writing this review is for YOU. You may not know enough to review the returns and find gross negligent mistakes; however, you do know enough to go elsewhere to a firm with positive reviews and no negative ones like this where the owner refuses to even reply to solve complaints and then tries to damage the credit of the person they did incorrect (proven) returns for. What they have done amounts to fraud (you can't bill someone and collect on a debt that is not legit). However, it's a big hassle I have to deal with and stress. I hope to save you from the same thing I have to deal with.
